Member Obligations

St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild is a volunteer organization comprised of dynamic, hard-working women focused on a mission to raise funds for Eskenazi Health.  We are excited that you would like to make this commitment of a minimum of 5 years that will begin in September with a luncheon for all members and a special new member tour of Eskenazi Health!  Please review the following obligations to fully understand what our members agree to participate in each year.

Fulfill All Financial Obligations: 

  • Annual Membership Dues:  $70
  • Funding for our two Designer Events:  $70
  • Sell or purchase 15 Show House tickets at $20 each:  $300
  • Purchase one ticket for our Opening Night Party:  $75
  • Monetary donations to our Decorators’ Show House and Gardens Fund are not required but strongly encouraged.

Attend General Meetings:  

  • One or two meetings in each of these months on Tuesday’s, 10:30 am - noon; October, January, February, March and April.
  • Two of these meetings will be evening meetings from 6:30 - 8 pm - usually in November and March.

Attend Mandatory Meeting:  Tuesday before the Show House opens in April.

Show House Obligations: Work the number of House Duty and Docent Shifts required of all Active Members:

  • House Duty shifts occur in February, March and April (approximately 3-4 shifts).
  • Docent shifts occur when the Show House is open:  End of April – Mother’s Day (approximately 8-9 shifts).
  • The number of shifts each member works is based on the size of the house and the number of Active Members in the Guild.

Additional New Member Obligations

  • Attend two mandatory informational meeting regarding new members' responsibilities.  The Guild Side meeting is usually in October. The Decorator Show House Side meeting is usually in early January. 
  • Attend “Bake Day” in April:  All New Members and some current members are assigned to the Maggie’s CafĂ© Committee which bakes Maggie’s Bars and Brownies to be sold during the Show House.
  • Work a Docent shift the evening of our Opening Night Party in late April. 
  • Work Site Management Shifts:  All New Members are on this committee, which tidies up the yard for an hour each morning before the Show House opens daily.
